Conflicting Process Error – When installing or updating a Creative Cloud application, such as Photoshop CC, you see one of the following messages in the Creative Cloud installation log file:
- Exit Code: 19;
- Conflicting Process Error Exit Code 19
- Exit code: 19 Conflicting processes running.
- Payload <AdobeCode> cannot be installed due to dependent operation failure;

What do these messages mean?
Conflicting processes have prevented the app from installing.
Steps to fix Conflicting Process Error – Adobe Support:
Solution 1: Close conflicting processes or apps:
Close the conflicting processes or apps identified in the following message that appears in the Creative Cloud desktop app. In order to close the applications follow the given steps.
If using Windows:
Close an application:
- First of all, right-click the application icon in the Taskbar, and then choose the Close window.
Close a process:
- First of all, right-click the Taskbar and select Task Manager.
- Furthermore, select the Processes tab and select Show Processes From All Users.
- In addition, select a conflicting process from the list and click End Process.
- Repeat step 3 for any additional conflicting processes error, in conclusion.
If Using Mac:
To close an application:
- First of all, ctrl+click the application icon in the Dock and choose Quit.
To close a process:
- First, in the Finder, choose Go and then Utilities.
- Furthermore, double-click the Activity Monitor application.
- After that, enter the name of the process in the search box located in the upper-right corner of the Activity Monitor window.
- Furthermore, double-click the conflicting process from the list, and click Quit in the process window. Then, click Force Quit.
- Now, repeat step 3 & 4 for any additional conflicting processes error, as a result.
In case you don’t find the process in the Activity Monitor, go to Spotlight Search. Type the name of the process and then click the process name from the search list. Then, follow steps 1 – 4. As a result, click Continue to continue installing or updating the app.
Solution 2: Configure your silent installation to ignore or disable processes:
Configure your silent installation of Creative Cloud to ignore the processes that are currently running. Or before installing the app, disable the processes running in the background.
